Glasgow airport is positioned 8 miles west of Glasgow City centre and is just off the M8 motorway nearby the towns of Paisley and Renfrew and is the second leading airport in Scotland falling behind Edinburgh airport only in the last few years, based on the volume of passengers going through the airport.
At present 8 million holiday makers travel through the airport each year with Edinburgh now over 9 million for the year ending 2008. Glasgow airport does have the benefit of having two runways and in theory should be able to increase the number of destinations to travel to but clearly at the moment travellers seem to favour Edinburgh airport.
